Change – Anticipate, Adapt, Enjoy

⁷”A river flows, never is it the same for a moment.  Thus is our life,  never to become stuck or stagnant, always to be flexible, adaptable and enjoyable.”

Change is hard for us all.  Sometimes we find it a breeze and sometimes we are stuck in denial.    Sometimes, we move from being fine, to oh my this is too much and we keep going back and fourth.    Change impacts every single aspect of our lives, from personal to professional.  It is not easy at all.  But, if we can change our perspective on it, it can be the best thing that ever happened to us.  Or it can be the worst thing that happened to us. Why the worst? When we fail to embrace change and we see it as the evil enemy;  we freeze,  we get blocked and it is as if  everything is doom and gloom.  If we can change our perspective on change and see it as a friend, a teacher,  and believe that something that good is awaiting us around the corner, life will be more enjoyable.

Both my personal and professional  have been riddled with change, to the point of exhaustion.   In most cases I have  handled change fairly well, but in some cases it was tough and  tearful (I won’t tell a lie).  However, each step towards change, the acceptance of change and the willingness to  change has lead me to believe in myself, and my capacity to handle change even when I don’t want to.  Ironically, one can actually enjoy change.  However, it might put us into a Mood Roller Coaster from time to time.

They say one thing is certain in life and  that is Death.  However, I believe that there are two things that are certain in life:-  One is Change and the other is the Death.  Why not embrace it? No matter how disgusting it is! It is inevitable, so let us embrace it the best we can.  Even if we have to  fake our smile and grit our teeth.  In the long run we can have the faith that it will be fine, I will be fine and I will be stronger.  Change is good – Really – It is !

I would like to introduce you to a little book called Who Moved My Cheese: An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life""“>”Who Moved my Cheese” a parable that reveals profound truths about change.  The book is written with four characters that each represents different types of personalities and how they manage/cope with change.   I brought this  book about  10 ish  years ago when both my personal life and professional life both went through a massive change at the same time.  I highly recommend it, because it gave me the insight and strength to  shift what  I needed to shift at that the time.   It is a very easy read, and makes light of a tough subject making it more practical for one to embrace into ones life.  I still own my copy and I re-read it from time to time.   I love my books so very dearly.
