“As we think, so we become. As the company, so the thought, so the personality. The thoughts we create, the company we keep, the discussion we have all impact our feelings. To be happy and positive we need to be mindful of our thoughts, words and actions. Even a thought can have a good karmic account or not so good. ” © 2016 ThoughtnLifeBlog
So I thought I would focus today weekly quote post to Confucius. Confucius literally means “Master Kong”. Confucius was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher. 28 Sept 551 BC to 479 BC. His philosophy emphasized, personal and governmental correctness and morality. His words are still applicable today…
- Real knowledge is to know the extent of one’s ignorance.
- A Superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.
- The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world and the world at large.
- To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it.
- I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
- Learn as though you would never be able to master it; hold it as though you would be fear of losing it.
- Think no vice to small that you may commit it, and no virtue to so small that you may over look it.
- Sincerity and truth are the basis of every virtue
- When anger rises, think of the consequences.
- Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change
- Don’t complain about the snow on your neigbours roof when your own doorstep is unclean.
- When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.
- Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses.
- He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.
I do love the depth of these quotes, this should keep us quote addicts going for a good two to three weeks. A lot to think about and a lot for me to bring into my life.
I hope you enjoyed. Which ones speak to you? Any you are keen to put into practice?

Number Twelve
I think about #12 and how it is relative in the United States at the present time with our presidential elections coming up in November and how it is all being used as a mirror for the citizens of this country, that we may see ourselves more clearly in what we perceive of the candidates. Personally speaking, I am ignorant of the elections and its candidates and choose to continue in this way, and yet still the powerful effects of the event still cause me to self-reflect in what I am perceiving in the people of this country: the country is falling, its people divided, discorded and dismayed at where it is now from where they assume its founding father’s intended it to be in 1776, somehow blinded by religious practice that we are all desirable of the same thing: rights and freedom to act accordingly. Still, in this perception, is only ME; I am this judgment.
In such a realization we go deeper and see: I am the one dismayed, discorded and divided. I am the one fallen. And yet, still… I am able to vaguely see this overarching redemption where I am also free. I am right in my action. I am right in my words. And in this I have achieved the founding father’s dream. In this too, I am only assuming what it must be and that what began in 1776 in the founding of this country that is the United States of America, We The People began with a dream that is still to this day coming into fruition in this redemption that is happening even now, whether anyone can see it or not.

Hi Matthew, Thanks for the deep comment.
Well, we are no better in the UK – look at BRexit an both main political parties are in internal warfare . It is a mess. But, Confucius wisdom holds true today. Wisdom and truth are timeless. I wish I could be wise and timeless.
Happy sunday.

I like ‘The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world and the world at large.’ among others. I’m a quote addict too! But I only discovered I am in the last few months when I did the 3 day quote challenge.
Number 12 is very deep too. It’s often said that what we find difficult/annoying in others are the qualities we display. Not sure if that’s what the quote meant but that’s what it made me think of :).

What we find annoying or good about a person is present in us.
12 – When we see men of a contrary character, we should turn inwards and examine ourselves. ” I think this is a reference to blame. It is like Gandhi say when you point a finger, look how many fingers are pointing back at you”
The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world and the world at large.’ … Totally – what we think is what we portray to the world and our world. Because there is so much disturbance in the mind of human – thus the world is in a mess – literally in a mess.

It sounds like the law of attraction which makes sense. Don’t worry about the fact you published this now and not tomorrow. Nobody minds if you took tomorrow off your blog, don’t get overworked yourself with coming up with another post.
Blogging addiction number 2? What’s number 1? lol
