Have You Ever Given Water to A Thirsty Person – KABHI PYASE KO PANI PILAYA NAHI
I heard this song this morning and thought I would share. It is in Hindi, I provide English translation below (Translation credit goes to the creator whose link is below). I hope those who are non-Hindi (I speak broken Hindi –lol) speaking can see the wisdom in this song.
This is Bhajan, which you could say is like a Gospel song. A song with a meaning of spirituality, humanity, of becoming our best self. Or a song of awaking our awareness from our self to the wider world, to awaken us from our selfish everyday actions to a more meaningful and wise way of life. Basically, a song to awaken us up from the unknowing duplicities in our life (or they could be knowing) – as always the choice is yours?
The first line aka the chorus
” If you never gave a thirsty person any water,Then what is the point in giving him nectar granting immortality afterwards? If you never picked up a falling person,Then what is the point in shedding tears afterwards? ”
Nectar (aka AMRIT ) is holy water, mean pure water that should make us better.
I hope you enjoy, please do Comment below.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
The hands that help are holier than lips that pray. Real devotion did not lie in selfish acts but in honest thinking and living and helping others in need or distress. God realization is not possible through construction of temples, great and costly charities done or reading hymns done with out a good heart but only possible through sincere and simple acts of compassion performed with a true sense of devotion.
