Hi Friends,
I want to ask you a few questions on blogging. I ask because I can’t figure out the Answers. I have tried so hard to find answers but nothing makes sense to me. So to all the bloggers out there here my cry, please share your experiences, thoughts, wisdom , ups and down to help everyone learn from you.
- What is your main blogging goal? To write as a hobbie, to make money, to do both, or just be creative?
- Is a mailing list necessary and why?
- Why should you go self hosted? What is the reason, the benefit the need? But, if you are paying for your wordpress account do you need to be self hosted ? Why?
- What is a sales funnel?
- How are you making money blogging?
- If you are making money, then what tax do you pay? What about international tax? Are an employer , limited company or self employed ( these UK terminologies, i dont know for your country).
- Do you use affilated links and how does that work , and how does that get managed see question 6?
- How many hours do you spend blogging? Do you have a day job?
- How many blog post do you write a day?
- How many blog posts do you write a week?
- What do you think of social media marketing? Is it working? Do you do it for free or paid?
- How much time do you spend on a blog post? How time of on social media? How much time connecting with other bloggers?
I blog as a hobby /fun. But at some point i want to make some money on the side from it. The UK is heading for brexit and everyones how well that is going😭. Companies are suffering and things are uncertain.
Please do comment below would love to learn from your experiences, or your thoughts or your fustriation at it all.
As you see i am a bit clueless here.
Thanks for popping by.
I like this post and the questions you asked. Just like you, I have some of these questions in my thoughts for a long time now, but you’ve voiced them out. I will read the comments here to learn more as I am also clueless about most of them. I want to monetize my blog amongst other things and it hasn’t been a walk in the park.
I started blogging as a passion and hobby. But at this stage, I want more out of blogging. I want to earn from it and I want to learn all the other things associated with blogging and social media. And time has been a hindrance to acquiring the skill sets needed to up my blogging.
Thank you, Bella, for this post. 🙂

I have no answers to any of these, except for why I blog which is: to express myself creatively while hoping to inspire or help others facing their own chronic illness. I originally was just going to journal, but my hand writing isn’t what it used to be because of my MS so a blog was born!
I would love to know how to possibly review products or something? I see all these beautiful blogs where bloggers are asked to review a product and I wouldn’t mind getting in on that action possibly.
As to how long does it take to write a post, it can take me up to 2 weeks working on one post because my MS dictates how long I can sit at the computer at a time, but it’s ok. I’m not working anymore and I have time on my hands to work at it when I am able!
I will be checking back to read the comments on your post, thanks for writing this one!

Dearest Raegan, thank you for reading and commenting. And it is fabulous the reason you blog. And honestly i blog to share meditations, positive thinking, and just life stuff and things i have seen benefit in and others may benefit from. And i love doing it. I personally dont want to stop doing this and i dont want to make money that way because it doesnt feel right , honest, fair and it just goes against the grain.
But at some point i do want to make money somehow.. but that where i draw a blank each time and then decide to forget about and just focus on my blog and enjoying that because it is enjoyed by a few blogger and i dont want to spoil that. It goes against my ethos.
Anyway… lets see.
You one thing the rules for online miney making could be different in different countries.
I wish that people in the know would be more open, but i guess thats how the make money.
Again thanks for you fab comment. You are star for managing life with your illness and sharing.
Regards bella
