Dear Friends, Question to you all, have you read the terms of service of wordpress.com lately. It is a good read, and you will be surprised wordpress.com is super cool about making money from your blog. I have a staight copy paste from the terms of service on affiliated as at 8th oct 2018.
I think everyone talks about wp.org as the only way to make money. But, honestly if you are not a massive business wordpress.com really offers a good deal for the non techie.
So here from tos on wp.com
Affiliate Linking
You can add affiliate links to your WordPress.com content as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content, and as long as the code for the ad is supported.
When blogging about books you’re reading, music you love, clothes that strike your fancy, gadgets you’re drooling over, or whatever interests you and your readers, feel free to post relevant affiliate links using either text or images.
There are a few restrictions in what affiliate programs are allowed. We do not allow affiliate links for gambling, get-rich-quick schemes, multi-level marketing programs, disreputable merchants, pornography, malware, or phishing-type scams. We also do not allow sites that exist primarily to drive traffic to affiliate links.
An easy and popular way to get started with affiliate links is Amazon! Read our support documentation for specific instructions on adding Amazon Affiliate links to your content.
So guys, gals, rethink your thoughts for self hosting. Honestly, i think wp.com could be a viable option for monetising your blog .
Anyway this my humble opinion.
Oops, I meant, *thanks

I have a set of post coming out from saturday to go over blogging terminology etc and you will get more ideas from them, just look at my post from yesterday.
Everyone says self host and wp.org. but wp.com offers a lot. See the different plans and see the terms of service.
The videos i will be sharing are geared to wp.org cause i cant find one that say wp.com is an option.
Wp.com is a cut down version of wp.org. it started in 2005. But you can sell intangible and tangible products via wp.com
I personally think wp.com is growung its offering to monetise.
Not wp.org and wp.com i think are founded by the same person.
Wp.com may have strict in the past but that is changing, and in terms if running a business if wp.com dont offer monetising then it will lose market share.i think wp.com is growing itsrlf to be the non techies tool.
Anyway i think wp.com is an option and it is not vital to self host. But, this my humble non experienced on line business opinon , this is just research talking.
