Back on the 7th March 2016 I started http://www.thoughtsnlifeblog.com on wordpress.com on the free version.
A year prior to that I started a blog almost called the same thing, but on some random website (simplesites). I use to wonder why is noting happening to my blog! Then I realised I have to be on WordPress. But, I had no clue of the difference of wordpress.com or wordpress.org.
Then on 4th May 2016, I decide to pay for the most basic of accounts on wordpress.com, because I realised how much wordpress.com gives us for free and I thought I best support it a bit, as if I support it, it will support me.
4 Years Later
4 years later, I can say that I love wordpress.com and the community – STILL!
I can see myself never going self hosted, I don’t want to be bothered by all the technical stuff. Why should I, when wordpress.com do it all for me. Also, wordpress.com keep on improving the functionality, meaning I don’t have to worry about the latest plugin for this that and the other. But, they say never say never, but I have kinda convinced myself with all my research that wordpress.com is the best option for me.
Blogging: What I have learnt | What I want to do Still|
Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post to celebrate 4 years blogging.
I started blogging as a hobby, as away to keep myself engaged and a way of learning new technology whilst I was at home taking care of my mum.
I am still clueless. But, not as clueless as 2016! I haven’t got a massive following. But, that doesn’t matter, because the friends I have made blogging are my blogging friends for life.
Blogging has really made my life so different. The wordpress.com community is an absolute gem!
Blogging has forced me to learn about instagram, twitter, pinterest, canva.com, where to find free images, how to repost on instagram, textgram, paypal, grammerly and skillsearch. Oh Yeah, I podcast and that has forced me to learn other skills, of recording, editing, making musics and uploading on soundcloud and here (but there is something else new on the scene, I need to learn, but can’t remember the name). Oh yeah and wordpress.com has forced me to learn the block editor, which I now feel how did I live without it !
I am not a writer, but desperately want to write a book or a few. But, I keep putting it off (imposter syndrome)! I need to get on with my book(s) idea! I don’t want to be a one book wonder either!
I want to podcast more. I want to provide blogging services in Graphic design and much more.
Blogging, has given me a great creative outlet and I love it. As much as I love my wordpress community and friends.
Blogging is hard, but rewarding. Blogging is fun, but you gotta make the effort to engage with the community. Blogging has brought back creativity into my life. Blogging gives me another way to express me.
Let me wrap up this braindump of a post
