Lord Make us Instruments of Your Peace
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it.
And for us who are in countries that don’t, we can still giving thanks and be grateful for what we have. And we can pray for a peaceful and harmonious world. That everyone in the world is peaceful, respectful and kind.
I accidentally found this beautiful song, which is actually a Prayer – A Prayer of Peace by St. Francis of Assisi.
It is beautiful and I just had to share. When words are beautiful, one go past the divisions of countries , religions, and of race/casts.
Can you imagine if we all all become so generous ? My motto is” be the change you want to see in the World” – Gandhi. This prayer in song form is just so beautiful and so inspiring to me. I hope you like it too.
Lyrics of the prayer
————————————-
Lord, Make us instruments of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let your love increase
Lord, make us instruments of your peace,
Walls of pride and prejudice shall cease
When we are your instruments of peace.
Where there is hatred, we will show his love
Where there is injury, we will never judge
Where there is striving, we will speak his peace
To the people crying for release,
We will be his instruments of peace
Lord, Make us instruments of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let your love increase
Lord, make us instruments of your peace,
Walls of pride and prejudice shall cease
When we are your instruments of peace.
Where there is blindness, we will pray for sight
where there is darkness, we will shine his light
Where there is sadness, we will bear their grief
To the millions crying for release,
We will be your instruments of peace.
Lord, Make us instruments of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let your love increase
Lord, make us instruments of your peace,
Walls of pride and prejudice shall cease
When we are your instruments of peace.

St. Francis of Assisi wrote the original:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Yes I agree. Sometimes in song you can feel it more. In church they have it set to music too.

Thank you Bella for this profound and heartwarming prayer by St. Francis Assisi to the Lord. Let us all ask Him to make us an Instrument of Peace and How May we Serve You, Lord. I think this is one of your best and greatest post. Loved every word and the video was beautiful. Thank you once again.
