International Womens Day 2023 – A Poem
Yet In 2023
there is still a divide
an inequality
we are NOT allowed
to go to school or have a career
to aspire to be something
to dream
to walk freely
to be fly and live our life
Yet in 2023
We are flying
we are aspiring
we are going to great heights
we are excelling
we are dreaming
and living the dream.
We are climbing mountains
earnings, doing tremendous and bold things
we are flying, living our life, or so it seems.
Yet in 2023
We have the Month of March
dedicated to Women
with the 8th of March
Assigned to International Womens Day
Why?
Because the world still has biases, stereotypes, and discrimination towards Women.
We still aren’t equal.
In some parts of the world, the bias is clear to see.
In other parts of the world, it slithers like a poisonous snake,
biting you covertly, that you don’t realise until years later.
We call ourselves developed, in what way exactly – praytell us?

There is so much misogyny in our modern culture but most people are looking in the wrong places. Women always lose in the culture wars. They end up used and objectified. No one cares about them after the age of thirty, it’s like we become completely invisible. It’s really sad how women’s experiences and intellect are not valued.
